Behind The Rabbit Productions Review
A BATTLE OF DARK & LIGHT
“The beauty of The Reunion is that it doesn’t settle for easy answers. In the end, Ricky must accept both the light and dark sides of his nature in order to feel peace. The title refers not only to the high school reunion, but to the reunion of Ricky’s psyche.”
FILM THREAT Review
“The Reunion is a gorgeous film from start to finish. Great attention is given to every shot in terms of composition, lighting (yes, including lens flares), camera movement, and several effects shots. These great choices effectively contrast Ricky’s reality with his many dream and flashback scenes. In addition, the cinematography is awe-inspiring for an independent film and only enhances the emotions.”

Dave Rosenberg: How I Made ‘The Reunion’
NYC Nonprofit Organization Super Happy Healthy Kids Announces Collaboration with Indie Filmmaker Dave Rosenberg to Further Anti-bullying Mission
(New York, NY - August 5, 2021) They say it takes a village to raise a child. NYC nonprofit Super Happy Healthy Kids that teaches kids to be kind, announces that they are collaborating with Brooklyn-born actor/filmmaker Dave Rosenberg to raise more awareness of the long-lasting effects of bullying. Rosenberg suffered from bullying as a teenager, a trauma that haunted him through adulthood and inspired him to create the film, The Reunion. SHHK and Rosenberg join forces to shine a spotlight on the negative impact that bullying has on lives and how instilling good character, integrity and responsibility in young children creates a better world for all.
Native New Yorker Esther Yang, who also was a victim of bullying as a child, founded SHHK in order to teach children early on about kindness and coexisting with others in a positive way. Yang met Rosenberg, and after hearing about his personal story of being bullied and of his new film, The Reunion, saw their common goal of stamping out bullying.
Yang says, “We teach kids how to be kind through words and actions, that hopefully carries through the rest of their lives. I saw Dave’s film, The Reunion, as a cautionary tale of how bullying affects not just the victim but also the bully well into adulthood. I see how our messages were the same, just coming from opposite ends of the spectrum.”
Rosenberg learned about Yang’s nonprofit and immediately wanted to collaborate in some way. “To me, this is a movie about healing childhood trauma. One of my visions with The Reunion was to link up with an anti-bullying organization, so that we could work with them to make some real world changes and help prevent and/or heal kids that are dealing with trauma and/or bullying. I was excited when I was introduced to Esther Yang and Super Happy Healthy Kids, and I'm very much looking forward to this collaboration."
As part of their collaboration, Yang and Rosenberg will be appearing in interviews together and plan to cross-promote the nonprofit and the film. The Reunion will be presented at the upcoming 9th Annual Nyack Film Festival on Wednesday, August 18, 2021 at 9:45 pm, where people can also make a donation to Super Happy Healthy Kids. Other events will be announced through both websites:

New York City Independent Film Festival presents screenings of THE REUNION
– New Independent Film by Dave Rosenberg
Daniel Overberger What Now
Dave Rosenberg is an actor and writer currently in Los Angeles. We talk about his new film, "The Reunion," that I just saw a screening of. Confront your fear!
What people are saying.
Just watched [your] film. Very !@#$ing incredibly good brother. So many memorable scenes. Flawlessly casted and shot. Sound was so immersive. [You and your] woman costar crushed it.
I loved that final scene with her. The hysteria. The cool down. Final scene was beyond perfect. Def felt like a love letter to NYC too with all the settings and transition shots of the city. It was a real work of art.
– Tonio
Went to the screening of The Reunion on Saturday. Cool film. Charming and compelling, with some great moments of humor.
Also, I was inspired by the writer’s story of how long it took the film to actually get made. There’s hope for me yet :)
– Josh Bergen
"The whole movement of the movie is original. It kind of reminds me -- actually, it doesn't literally remind me of anything, but let's say it makes me think of a great movie that it's totally unlike, which is Fellini''s 8 and 1/2...What a lyrical, terrifying, healing experience."
— Austin Pendleton ("Finding Nemo", "A Beautiful Mind")
"The Reunion brings a story of the how friendships and intimacy can heal, and sometimes confuse the process of healing from childhood trauma. In this beautiful, non-linear expression of that process for one man who experienced being bullied at a most vulnerable time in his life, this film provides truly unique characters and relationships in a story that surprises and reaffirms the potential for growth through the painful process of owning our power, and learning from our mistakes."
— John Osborne
“A meditation on masculinity ...Psychologically complex. Unsettling in the best possible way!”
— Adrian Bewley (playwright “Max Factor”)
“Dave Rosenberg, the screenwriter, has a deep, current and clever young voice. The Reunion is Woody Allen meets Birdman in it's chaotic, yet romantic, yet edgy style. His protagonist explores and searches for his masculine identity in a Hamlet-like search for meaning and understanding of manhood. The landscape of NYC serves as a modern day 'On The Road backdrop' to his journey.”
— Christina Zorich (“Hillary”)
“I read "The Reunion" not knowing anything about it really. As an audience member/reader I was thoroughly engrossed in the story of our hero and deeply enjoyed the arc that our hero goes through. I can relate to this classic "hero's journey" tale in that it speaks to both the high schooler in me AND the man I am today.”
— Matt Munroe (“Independence Day: Resurgence”)
